The Education Technology Gap in Kenya
Teachers are among the lowest paid professionals in Kenya. COVID-19 exposed our digital divide. The Competency Based Education (CBE) curriculum demands digital literacy — yet most teachers can't afford a new laptop.

Refurbished devices are not the answer. They're outdated, insecure, and unreliable. Teachers deserve better. Students deserve better.
Having access is not the same as owning. Many students and teachers share devices or rely on smartphones — which are not designed to manage an education curriculum. A phone's UI is not built for creating lesson plans, writing reports, or learning the Competency Based Curriculum.
As a Product Development Manager at one of the global ICT companies, I helped pioneer PC as a Service (PCaaS) with Intel. It prospered in Europe. It took center stage in the US. But here in Kenya? Our teachers can't even afford a used computer.
I realised I had to do something. The Shule Project is my legacy for good.

Internet access is not provided for now. We are working on initiatives to make connectivity available to partner schools soon.
